Erection of monopole

Request ID: FOI-1371-2324
Date published: 24 August 2023

You asked

A monopole has been erected on Council land Outside 160-164 London Road Hackbridge SM6 7HF. The highway is not TfL managed, nor the pavement. Over previous months work has taken place on the pavement that included digging up the tarmac, installing some type of wiring and now the installation of a large pole with space for equipment. No planning application was seen. As Councillors, we have not been informed of any works planned or consulted at all. My questions are as follows. Is this monopole within your jurisdiction? What is its purpose? When was it planned? What submission was made, to who and through what route? What evidence can you provide to show the correct planning process was followed? Where did you or contractor advertise such works? What evidence is there that says this meets a suitable design for a busy and narrow pedestrian walk way? Is this for a ULEZ camera? Why was a street light pole insitu not used for the purpose? What will be done to rectify the damage to the street scene - it is now 1.3m in front of a bench?

Our ref: FOI-1371-2324/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 July 2023 asking for information about the erection of a monopole.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you require. We have carried out all reasonable searches, but have found no information concerning the erection of the monopole on LB Sutton’s highway.

We are therefore confident that this installation was not carried out by Transport for London.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
