detail of number of buses no longer running after 15 June changes

Request ID: FOI-1358-1920
Date published: 30 August 2019

You asked

How many buses were taken out of passenger service (number of vehicles) for each of Mon-Fri, Sat and Sun, after the 15 June 2019 changes were implemented? (TfL's reply reference 13498247,dated 06 Aug from Naomi Tuckett, Customer Service Adviser says I should ask for this information via an FoI request - thus!)

We answered

TfL Ref: 1358-1920

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6 August 2019 asking for information about which buses would no longer run after 15 June 2019.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

There are currently more buses than needed in central London as a result of changes to how people travel, with demand dropping by 12 per cent in three years. The changes to routes in central London, which come after careful consideration to the responses received after the bus changes consultation, will make journeys better for many by improving reliability and reducing bus-on-bus congestion. It also allows for increased services in outer London where public transport options are more limited.

The following table shows the peak vehicle requirement (PVR) changes to the routes you requested on Mondays to Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays immediately after June 15, 2019. Please note that, as most operators have large bus portfolios within and outside London, vehicles coming off one passenger service will normally be redeployed elsewhere. We do not have details of where these might be however.
