You asked

I am aware of your transparency data, showing job titles, descriptions and salary ranges for various jobs over 50k, as found in another FOI request and at this website https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/senior-staff Please provide me with an excel/csv file with ALL job titles, descriptions and salary ranges in, without the minimum £50,000 as in the currently published document, for the latest year available only.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6 August 2019 asking for job descriptions and salaries for all jobs.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

The annual data transparency project showing job titles, descriptions and salary ranges for various jobs over 50k usually takes us around 3 months to complete as there various processes involved around collating and validating the data before publishing.

All employees in scope for Data Transparency are written to validate their data. It’s important to mention that not all job purpose information is centrally recorded, so there is a task of collating the missing information from the relevant business areas.

To provide the information you have requested for those with an FTE salary lower than £50k would therefore exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with requests if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. In this instance, we estimate that the time required to answer your request would exceed 18 hours which, at £25 per hour (the rate stipulated by the Regulations), exceeds the ‘appropriate limit’.

To help bring the cost of responding to your requests within the £450 limit, you may wish to consider refining your requests to concentrate on matters which are important to you. However, it is important to note that were we to receive a request for salary information which we could respond to within reasonable the appropriate limit, we would refuse any requests where individuals could be identified as this would be considered personal data.
