Dear Transport for London, Please provide a list of public statements and their contents made by the Cycling and Walking Commissioner, Will Norman, on cyclist and pedestrian deaths since his appointment as commissioner.

We answered

TfL Ref: 1353-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5 September 2017 asking for a list and content of all public statements made by Cycling and Walking Commissioner, Will Norman, on cyclist and pedestrian deaths since his appointment in February 2017.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.

Will Norman has not made public comments on individual cycle and pedestrian deaths since his appointment. The most appropriate response in the immediate aftermath of such tragic incidents is from the police and TfL’s operational teams.

Every death is a needless tragedy, the human cost of which should never be forgotten. That is why TfL is investing billions of pounds to create Healthy Streets, where walking and cycling are safe, and removing the most dangerous lorries from our roads.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely

Sara Thomas
