You asked

To whom it may concern Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to know why was the average speed camera on the A406 near Beechwood Avenue removed and why have they been now replaced with 2 cameras instead of 3. I would also like to know why were they also removed near Connaught Drive on the A406 and replaced with only 1 instead of the original 3 that was first installed.

We answered

TfL Ref: 1349-2021

Thank you for your request received by us on 14 October 2020 asking for information about the average speed cameras in the A406 vicinity.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

why was the average speed camera on the A406 near Beechwood Avenue removed and why have they been now replaced with 2 cameras instead of 3.

I would also like to know why were they also removed near Connaught Drive on the A406 and replaced with only 1 instead of the original 3 that was first installed

We can advise that the sites on the A406 by Beechwood Avenue and the A406 West of East End Road both had safety cameras that were intentionally damaged and required replacement. Both cameras at the A406 by Beechwood Avenue have been replaced.

Furthermore, one camera at the site of the A406 West of East End Road has also been replaced, with the other replacement due shortly.

We would also like to add that both sites have never had three cameras; they have always had two cameras.
