TfL Ref: FOI-1313-2021
Thank you for your request received of 16th October 2020 asking for information about TfL advertising.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
I can confirm that hold some of the information you require. Your questions are answered in turn below:
Question 1) when the TFL slogan was changed from 'TFL: Every Journey Matters' to 'To the Mayor of London and TFL: Every Journey Matters' on radio and other broadcast adverts?
And;
Question 2) why the change was made?
The logo that represents the public office of the Mayor of London has appeared on all TfL’s poster, press, TV, cinema and on-line advertising since Ken Livingstone became Mayor of London in 1999. The addition of the Mayor of London reference into our radio advertising was introduced in March 2017 to provide consistency between radio and all other advertising channels that we use and now features across all TfL radio advertising, irrespective of its message and content. This change came about as a result of a review of our branding and advertising that we undertake periodically.
Question 3) any correspondence relating to the change (you subsequently clarified that this relates to correspondence between TfL and the Mayor’s office only):
There is no correspondence between TfL and the Mayor’s office or between TfL and the Greater London Authority relating to this matter.
