Date published: 15 August 2023

You asked

Hi, Hope you are well, I live at XXXXXX and believe the Milk and More dairy depot which is situated behind my property is closing down. I’d like to understand if that is correct and if so what is happening with the site? I know it has been ear marked for use for when cross rail 2 is going to be built but believe this is a while off yet? Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

TfL Ref: FOI-1310-2324

Thank you for confirming your full name received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26 July 2023 in relation to your request asking for information about Crossrail 2.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

The land in question is not in the control of TfL. Whether the current Milk Depot site is closing down is a matter for the owner and / or operators of the depot. The future use of the land would be a question for the owner if the Milk Depot were to close. Any proposals for how the land might be used would require a conversation between the owner and the local planning authority.

The land is identified in the 2015 Crossrail 2 Safeguarding Directions as an Area of Surface Interest. In the event of a decision to take forward Crossrail 2 it is likely that the Milk Depot would be required as a worksite for the future delivery of Crossrail 2.

In October 2020, as part of the TfL Funding Agreement with Government, a decision was made to pause further work on the design and development of Crossrail 2. The work undertaken so far was fully documented so that the project could be restarted when the time is right.

TfL continues to manage the Crossrail 2 Safeguarding Directions on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport and continues to work with stakeholders whose developments are affected by the Safeguarding. This is to ensure we can continue to protect the route until such time as the railway can be progressed.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please find the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,
