Our ref: FOI-1289-1819/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 8 August 2018 asking for information about hit and run incidents.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
Failing to stop at the scene of a collision is illegal. TfL and the Metropolitan Police are targeting London’s most dangerous drivers as part of the new Vision Zero approach to reducing road danger, as well as working to raise awareness of reporting collisions.
Collision data for London is supplied to TfL by the Metropolitan Police Service and the City of London Police. Please see below the number of fatal collisions recorded as involving a hit and run vehicle 2013 -2016. Please note that 2017 data is not yet complete – we anticipate this will be available from the end of September this year.
