I am trying to gather information about the number of bus shelters in London. Please can you provide the following: - number of bus shelters in London - number in Central London - number in Greater London - number owned by TFL / London Buses - whether all bus shelters are owned by TFL/London Buses or if London Borough Council's own any - If Councils own their own bus shelters - can you provide a number owned by Councils - Can you provide a breakdown on the number owned per Council

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.  You asked:

Our database shows that there are 13,397 bus shelters in Transport for London’s area of jurisdiction. Of these, 12,169 are owned by TfL. There are a number of bus shelters outside of the London area (in as much as they are in Kent, Surrey etc) but they are not specified by this area type on our database. We do not record shelters as being in either “Central London” or “Greater London” and so are unable to provide this breakdown.

Please find below two tables which show the breakdown of the bus shelters by ownership (table 1), and the breakdown by council ownership (table 2).
