I'm aware that there are a number of colour blind train drivers. Would you be able to tell me how many colour blind drivers there are currently driving trains and which stock/line?

We answered

Our Ref:         FOI-1269-1718

Thank you for your request received on 26 August 2017 asking for information about train operators.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.

All London Underground train operators go through a rigorous medical assessment to ensure they are able to carry out all aspects of their jobs. The process includes a health questionnaire, screening tests (including hearing, vision and colour vision testing), and a consultation with a doctor that includes a physical examination.

Please see the attached vision and colour vision standards for further information. All of our train operators meet these standards.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
