You asked
Could you advise of the data regarding fuel type (E5 or E10) the ULEZ vehicle conformity data is based upon please.
We answered
Our Ref: FOI-1255-2324
Thank you for your request received on 23 July 2023 asking for information about Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) fuel conformity.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
The ULEZ conformity standard for positive ignition (petrol) engines is that the vehicle does not emit more than 0.08g/km NOx on the type-approval type 1 test. These emissions are measured at the time the vehicle is approved for sale in Europe. That level of NOx emission is equivalent to Euro 4.
Both E5 and E10 gasoline fit within the EN228 (as amended) definition of fuel for spark ignition engines. As such, either one is acceptable for maintaining the emissions performance of a vehicle, within the range set by type approval standards. If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
