We answered

Our Ref:         FOI-1254-2324

Thank you for your request received on 23 July 2023 asking for information about the power supply to the cabinets for Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) equipment.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

With all the new power cabinets that TFL are installing it is noted that these have been 'tapped' into the local electricity power grid, who pays for this electricity?

TfL pays for the electricity supply for all of its infrastructure installed on the network, which includes the electricity supplied to ANPR cameras.

Please provide impact assessment data regarding the 'tapping' into the local electricity power grid.

We do not hold an impact assessment on the connection of cameras to the electrical distribution network.

Please provide information upon the current drawn by an individual ULEZ camera & the quantity of ULEZ cameras that are installed & due to be installed that will be 'tapped' into the local electricity power grid.

The power consumption per camera is 25W nominal. We expect that c2750 additional ANPR cameras will be needed to operate the expanded London-wide scheme.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
