Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 18th August 2022 asking for information about the cost of works at South Harrow sidings (question 6 in your email below).
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“A commercial contract, once “let” is not at the mercy of confidentiality as to its financial consequences and costs. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
The work being carried out at South Harrow Sidings is linked to the overall upgrade works to the Piccadilly Line, in preparation for the arrival of the new rolling stock that is replacing the trains that have been in service since 1973. The work is being carried out by our Track Delivery Unit, the team within London Underground that specialises in track upgrades and renewals.
The budget for the work at South Harrow Sidings was estimated in 2019 at £16m plus approximately £2.3m of risk allocation. Due to the issues we have experienced with flooding and the subsequent effect on the ground conditions, we currently forecast the overall direct cost to be in the region of £18m after we have drawn down a large proportion of the risk allocation.
