Our ref: FOI-1241-1920/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26 July 2019 asking for information about the Central line.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

1a) how many trains per day (with an hourly view) the Ealing Broadway branch of the central line get and how many trains service the West Ruislip branch. I need this information for the last two months, please include yesterdays (25th July) train statistics, please.

1b) The number of trains per hour showing first to last service for each of the above.

Please see the attached spreadsheet ‘FOI-1241-1920’. Please note the measuring point used for the data, is actual departure times from North Acton westbound.

2a) The number of passengers that use the Ealing Broadway Branch and how many use the West Ruislip Branch for the same periods.

We have interpreted this question as asking for the number of passengers that use the Ealing Broadway Branch and the West Ruislip Branch of the Central line, by hour, for the two months from 25 May 19 to 25 July 19.

Please see the attached spreadsheet ‘1241 passengers’ Please note:

  • The data comprises ticketing taps on readers in stations, comprising of Oyster, contactless and magnetic paper ticketing products

  • Any customers entering or exiting the station but not tapping will not be captured in the dataset.

  • Taps marked as PVal are taps made on a Passenger Validator. These are standalone readers, i.e. not installed on a physical opening and closing gate.

  • We are unable to assign passengers to trains from ticketing data.

  • For Ealing Broadway, where the station shares services between the Central line, District line, TfL Rail and National Rail, we are unable to separate out the ticketing taps by line.

2b) The breakdown per hour of people using the service showing first to last train.

The attached spreadsheet gives a gauge of the number of people using the services that serve the stations on each branch as described. First and last train information for both branches can be found on our website: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/fandl-central-wtt-69.pdf
