Hi,
I would like to know how many Private hire licenses were issued in year 2023/4 and total revenue from licenses.
I would also like to know how many Private Hire Vehicle licenses were issues in year 2023/4 and total revenue from PHV licenses.
The same for Tax drivers too.
Finally I would also like to know the profit from all licenses issued.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 July 2024 asking for information about Private Hire and Taxi drivers.
Please find below the total number of licences issued within the 2023/2024 financial year as requested. Please note that our financial year runs from April to March. Drivers have a 3 year licence and vehicles have a 1 year licence.

Taxi driver’s licence
Licence application fee £120
Grant of licence fee £180
Private hire driver’s licence
Licence application fee £124
Grant of licence fee £186
Private hire vehicle licence
Application fee £84
Grant of licence fee £56
Please note that Licence fees cover the costs of the licensing administration process and compliance and enforcement activities associated with regulation of the licensed taxi and private hire trades. Transport for London does not profit from its licensing function and all income is used to run and improve our services for our licensees, customers and users.
