Date published: 10 August 2023

You asked

Hello there I’ve seen that there will be new EV buses for the route 86. Since it was meant to be out on 15th July 2023 when it was retained by stagecoach and it got delayed. What is the reason for the delay? When will it be out on the 86? And what other routes will get EVs from NS (North Street) bus garage

Our ref: FOI-1232-2324/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 18 July 2023 asking for information about new buses on bus route 86.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

The delay is due to electric infrastructure and vehicle delivery timescales which typically take 12-15 months after contract award. The contract was awarded in February 2023. We are therefore currently anticipating the conversion of Route 86 to electric will take place in the first half of 2024.

No contract awards have been made for other routes to be converted to Electric Vehicles at North Street Garage at the current time; although it is intended that the whole network will have converted to zero emission buses by the end of 2034.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
