Wrong date at London Bridge NR

Request ID: FOI-1195-1819
Date published: 15 November 2018

You asked

I've become aware of an unusual problem that occured on July 7th at London Bridge NR. For some reason the date was (still?) set to July 6th. This caused dual incomplete journeys to be recorded on Oyster cards and in some cases caused auto topups to be called earlier than they needed to be. The card that I'm aware of had not been corrected until the user called the helpdesk yesterday (30th July) which suggests that there may be other people who have been overcharged. I'd like to understand the scope of this issue, including whether it affected the whole station, one bank of gates, or just one gate. Please can you produce a report listing how many cards had: 1) exit from LB NR on July 6th with no entry, but also had an entry elsewhere between 21-24 hours later with no exit. 2) entry at LB NR on July 6th with no exit, but an exit elsewhere 24-27 hours later with no entry. Please provide sub-totals for each gate at LB NR which had an issue.

Thank you for your email received by us on 11 July 2018 asking for information about Out of Station Interchanges (OSI).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for the following:

I would like to request a similar piece of information to that provided earlier this year in response to your reference FOI-4929-1718.

The specific difference that I would like to see is the usage broken down into each individual OSI. So, rather than just saying that Bank had 118954 entries I would like to know how many came from each of Cannon Street NR, Fenchurch Street NR, Liverpool Street NR, Monument and other exits from Bank (same NLC). I'd expect about 250 lines on the report. Please provide the total number for each OSI over a 4-week period, as before. I don't mind what period is used as long as it is recent.

Please find attached the requested data covering the period of 24 June 2018 to 21 July 2018.

Also, I have a query about the latest OSI list dated 10/06/2018. The only change appears to be a new OSI between Bayswater and Queensway which is described as NTM only. Is NTM another way of saying Magnetic, or does it mean something else? Does it have any relevance to Oyster or contactless?

I can advise that NTM stands for New Ticketing Media, a term used internally for Oyster. Therefore It does not refer to magnetic. Nor do we measure OSIs for travel made using magnetic tickets.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
