We answered

Our ref: FOI-1185-1920/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 20 July 2019 asking for information about yellow box junctions.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

We operate a network of more than 900 CCTV enforcement cameras across the red route network. Our cameras can be used to enforce any type of traffic contravention including parking, bus lane and moving traffic restrictions. CCTV enforcement cameras are located at strategic points across our road network to ensure compliance with the red route restrictions. Our cameras are not fixed on a specific location but are used to enforce any type of red route contravention in the local area. While each camera is available for use 24 hours a day, this does not mean they are constantly monitored or that they are being used to monitor a specific location.

Full Information about our CCTV camera enforcement system is published on our website at https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/red-routes.

Please find attached spreadsheets showing how many PCNs we issued at each location and the value of payments received. All net revenue generated has been reinvested straight into ongoing investment in the capital’s transport infrastructure, which helps to promote more sustainable travel and helps to clean London’s air.

Please note, the figures are correct as of 25 July 2019.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
