Thank you for your request received by us on 20 July 2019 asking for information about Local Transport Plans, the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked for the following information:

Please let me know by category the funding received by TfL from DfT yearly for the maintenance of the boroughs road network and its associated infrastructure? Is Local Transport Plans and Local Implementation Plans similar if not what would be the main differences.

A London borough’s Local Implementation Plan (LIP) is a statutory document prepared under section 145 of The Greater London Authority (GLA) Act and sets out how a borough will deliver the Mayor’s Transport Strategy in its area. Each borough is required to produce a LIP, which must be approved by the Mayor of London.

A LIP must contain the borough’s proposals for implementing the Mayor’s Transport Strategy in its area, a timetable for implementing the different proposals and the date by which all the proposals will be implemented. The proposals must be adequate for the purposes of delivering the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and consistent with it. Section 151 of the GLA Act states that a borough council ‘shall implement all the proposals’ contained in its LIP.

Local Transport Plans (LTPs) are relevant to transport authorities outside of London and are enacted through different legislation and guidance, and therefore TfL does not hold information on this. However, the information pertaining to LTPs will be available from the Department for Transport via  https://forms.dft.gov.uk/foi-dft-and-dft-agencies/

Is there plans for TfL to take back in house the street cleansing of the TLRN. If so when please as it was one of the recommendation from the parliament

At this time there are no plans for TfL to take on the EPA (Environmental Protection Act) duties of the London boroughs.
