Our ref: FOI-1146-1920/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 19 July 2019 asking for further information about London Underground CCTV.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

Subject Access Requests in TfL obviously have some similarities, the main difference is that the LUL SAR form states London Underground CCTV on it, whereas the other parts of the business refer to their respective business unit. All London Underground station CCTV is kept for 14 days. So if a camera is identified as being part of a London Underground station CCTV system then it will be retained for 14 days

For the year 2018/19 there were 208 Subject Access Requests.

There were 31 instances where CCTV was not downloaded because it had been overwritten.

5 of these related to on train CCTV for which the retention period is different.

If we include all of the CCTV including on train CCTV, 29 were requested out of the 14 day retention period. 2 were requested on day 13, and so there was insufficient time to request this data.

May 2019

23 requests received, 1 was overwritten (request received outside of the 14 days), 11 SARs sent to requestor, 11 SARs not fulfilled due to a variety of other reasons such as incomplete information, no camera in area, the CCTV concerned relating to criminal activity etc

June 2019

13 requests received, 1 was overwritten (request received outside of the 14 days). 9 SARs sent to requestor, 2 SARs not fulfilled due to incomplete information. 1 SAR was not fulfilled as the wrong date and time was requested.
