FOI request detail

Park Road Teddington

Request ID: FOI-1144-2324
Date published: 07 August 2023

You asked

Park Road Teddington. I have noticed a massive increase in Bus traffic along the above during the last few weeks. Apparently besides the existing routes that pass along the road, five routes are on diversion, down Park Road.Nos 111, 216, 411, 281 & 285. Can you explain what has caused these diversions and when that will be returning to their normal routes. I also have noticed a considerable number of buses “not in service”, that use this road in the evening. What has caused all these buses to return to their depot along Park Road. I would suggest that there has been a 700% rise in emissions along Park Road since the start of these actions mentioned above. A majority of these buses are diesel powered. I look forward to your response. I have copied this email to our MP.

We can advise that contractors on behalf of Richmond Council undertook an installation of a footbridge for a flower show on Hampton Court Road, which impacted upon service levels and caused a diversion to buses in this area. The scheduled finish date of these works was 15 July 2023.

There were also sewer works implemented by Thames Water that involved the late night to early morning closure of Kingston Road, causing buses to be on diversion, which again included Park Road. These works were scheduled to be completed by 7 July 2023.

In reference to bus emissions, our entire fleet of buses operating across London now meet or exceed Euro VI emission standards and consist of low- and zero-emission (at the tailpipe) buses, including electric, hydrogen, diesel and hybrid buses. Electric buses form a large part of our zero-emission (at the tailpipe) fleet and operate across multiple routes in London, helping to reduce TfL's carbon footprint and provide greener journeys across the capital.
