Mayor of London Sadiq Khan stated in January 2017 that "TfL has worked with its supplier to develop the existing Cycle Superhighway signage to include cycle counter technology. These will be installed on two of the new Cycle Superhighways during the spring and will be located on the Victoria Embankment (Cycle Superhighway 3) and south of Blackfriars Bridge (Cycle Superhighway 6)." http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/9058 refers. Can I please request information about the proposed locations, programme and progress for the installation of these two cycle counters?

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-1133-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10 August 2017 asking for information about Cycle Superhighways.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

Can I please request information about the proposed locations, programme and progress for the installation of these two cycle counters?

As part of the Cycle Superhighways programme, TfL are trialling cycle counters on the East West and North South routes. The purpose of the counters is to promote and encourage cycling and use of the routes by displaying the counts in real-time. Based on the results of the trial we will then investigate whether to install them across other routes.

The proposed locations are on Blackfriars Road near the junction with Colombo Street and along Victoria Embankment opposite Embankment Station.

The counters have been manufactured and one has been installed. We are awaiting a date from our suppliers for installation of the second counter and for UK Power Networks to supply a power connection to both counters.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,

Melissa Nichols
