We answered

Our ref: FOI-1124-1819/GH

Thank you for your refined requests received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23 July 2018 asking for information about announcements and pink readers.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

I would like to be provided with the final report that authorised the use of the words “there is a good service on all lines” when making announcements to the public.

If there is no such report then the name of the person who authorised these words and the date the decision was taken.

This wording has been used for many years and predates all of the people currently working within the relevant team.  It is unlikely there would be a report concerning this wording and we do not know the name of the person who authorised this use of words. It would not be possible for us to search for any relevant emails or documents for an unspecified timeframe and for such common search terms as ‘good service’ and ‘announcements’ without using a huge amount of resources, for something where the public interest is low.

For the pink readers a revised request: I would like to see the final report that recommended the installation of the pink readers.

Pink readers were first installed in readiness for the extension of Oyster ticketing to National Rail, which finally happened in January 2010. It is now at least 10 years since the case for installing pink readers would have been considered. To the best of our knowledge TfL does not hold any paper setting out the case for installing them. It is probable that the case for pink readers was never separated out from totality of requirements to facilitate the extension of Oyster ticketing to National Rail. We have located one document which refers to the introduction of the readers, and this is attached for your information.

I would like to see the latest performance report for the pink readers.

We do not hold performance reports for the pink readers.
