Our Ref: FOI-1114-1819/GH

Thank you for your e-mail received on 19 July 2018 asking for information about Accidents on Santander Cycles.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

The information we have available is from ACCSTATS (which is the recognised version of data) from 2010 up to October 2016. Verified data covering the period since October 2016 will be available later this year.

ACCSTATS is TfL’s database of all personal injury road traffic collisions in Greater London occurring on the public highway and reported to the police within 30 days of occurring in accordance with the STATS19 national reporting system. Collision data for London is supplied to TfL by the Metropolitan Police Service and the City of London Police.

Please see the attached spreadsheets which contain most of the information requested. We do not receive details of injuries and are unable to attribute cause, however we can advise that the two fatalities were traffic collisions between the cyclist and a left turning lorry.

Safety is our top priority, and we are working to deliver the Mayor’s Vision Zero ambition of eliminating deaths and serious injuries on London’s roads. For more information on how we plan to achieve this, please see https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/safety-and-security/road-safety/vision-zero-for-london.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
