Thank you for your request received on 8 August 2022 asking for information about meetings with the taxi and private hire trade.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

Can you please supply details of all high level engagement meetings (in person or virtual) between TfL and representatives / members of the taxi and Private Hire Vehicle trade since January 2021.

I am seeking the date, duration, position/role of TfL senior personnel and Trade organisations involved, alongside the purpose (subject matter) of the meeting please.

We place a high value on the input and contribution that our stakeholders provide and hold regular scheduled meetings with taxi and private hire stakeholders. Please see our published Taxi & Private Hire Stakeholder Engagement Policy for further information.

As set out in the Engagement Policy, during the pandemic we met regularly with two distinct groups of stakeholders:

•           Taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) driver and PHV operator representatives
•           Large PHV operators / taxi booking platforms

These fortnightly, TfL-chaired forums were used to discuss the issues being faced by licensees and an opportunity to discuss the most up-to-date Government guidance and also provided an opportunity to provide important regulatory information and practical safety advice and guidance for licensees.

These meetings now take the form of a Licensing and Regulatory Forum (for taxi and PHV driver and PHV operator representatives) and a Technology Forum (for large PHV operators / taxi booking platforms) and continue on a monthly frequency to provide a regular touch point for stakeholders to raise and resolve emerging issues in a timely manner.
