FOI request detail

Maintenance of traffic island

Request ID: FOI-1100-1718
Date published: 23 August 2017

You asked

I would like to know how often your staff visit and maintain the trees and other greenery on the land between the Red Path and the A12 / East Cross Route and when the next scheduled maintenance is going to be, as well as when the last visit was. I am not referring to Mabley Green. I am referring to the traffic island which is fenced off, and inaccessible from the Green.

We answered

Our Ref:         FOI-1100-1718

Thank you for your request received on 8 August 2017 asking for information about tree maintenance on the A12.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.

We visit this area once a year and do all the required work identified from the survey. This usually entails pruning anything overhanging the road side in the block closures. The grass is also cut within the closures although we were not able to do so on our last visit due to permit cancellation. The last visit was carried out on September 2016 and the next visit will be this coming September.

This area was reduced and cleared up in its entirety in 2015 and planted with new plants along the boundary south bound under the public realm sector.

If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
