TfL Ref: FOI-1090-1819
Thank you for your email received on 19 July asking for information about Zero Emission Capable (ZEC) taxis.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
How many electric taxis have been licensed since the new law came into force where only electric taxis are allowed to be licensed.
As of Friday 20 July, we have licensed 360 ZEC taxis.
New licensing requirements were introduced on 1 January 2018 to reduce emissions from the taxi fleet by phasing out diesel taxis and increasing the number of ZEC taxis in London. All new taxis presented for licensing for the first time need to be ZEC. This means having CO2 emissions of no more than 50g/km and a minimum 30 mile zero emission range.
