Request ID: FOI-1067-1819
Date published: 14 August 2018
You asked
I am seeking via the FOI procedure, statistics relating to road traffic accidents involving Uber cars in London.
Since watching the horrendous change in driving conditions on London’s streets over the last 6 years mainly concerning these Private Hire vehicles, I witness car crashes and incidents on a daily basis.
Please could you provide a breakdown of figures involving these Uber vehicles, mainly Toyota Prius.
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-1067-1819
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 July 2018 asking for information about road traffic accidents involving Uber vehicles.
Your request has been processed in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do not hold the information you requested. You asked:
Please could you provide a breakdown of figures involving these Uber vehicles, mainly Toyota Prius.
Unfortunately we are unable to supply collision data relating to Uber vehicles. In STATS19 data (the national road traffic collision data system in Great Britain) taxi and private hire vehicles are combined into a single vehicle category. In addition we are not supplied with details of who operates private hire vehicles, therefore would have no way of identifying which of these collisions may have involved an Uber vehicle.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
Melissa Nichols
