TfL Ref: 1065-1819

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 July 2018 asking for information about Pentonville Road gates at Kings Cross London Underground Station.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.  London Underground are the operator of Kings Cross St Pancras Tube Station and have been from 2007 onwards when they took over from Network Rail (NR) .

Our answers are below:

  1. The last date the toilets were available for use by the public at no charge for using them.

  2. The last date the toilets were available for use by the public whether or not there was a charge for using them.

We do not hold any information prior to 2007 when Network Rail was the operator. Since 2007 the toilets have been closed to the public.

  3. The last date on which the elevator/lift was operational and available for use by the public.

There is no elevator/lift at the Kings Cross Pentonville Road entrance.

  4. The last date on which there was a cash oyster vending machine operational and available for use by the public.

There have never been TfL ‘cash’ oyster machines at this entrance. There are two card only machines at the entrance. We do not hold information on what Network Rail ticketing machines there may have been before the removal of NR services.

  5. The last date on which the escalator was operational and available for use by the public.

The escalator at Pentonville Road has been out of service since July 2nd due to a faulty chain. A replacement part has been ordered.

  6. The current planned closure date of the gates.

The current opening hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 20:00 and there are currently no plans to change this.
