Please provide figures from 2010 to date:
How much money has TfL paid to the Metro on a yearly basis – please categorise these figures by 1) cost of regular full page ‘travel update’ 2) all other advertising 3) all other payments.
If the period I've requested exceeds the time limitations, please reduce it to the period from 2012. If this is still in excess, please reduce it to the period from 2014.

Thank you for your request received on 10 July 2019 asking for information about payments made to Metro newspaper.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
TfL has a contract with the Metro to distribute copies of its newspaper at certain underground stations and other locations on the estate. As part of this contract, TfL is granted the ‘travel update’ page within the newspaper at no charge.
In addition to this, TfL takes advertising within the Metro to communicate key pieces of information to a wide London audience, including information about our fares, planned closures on the road and public transport network, improvements to our services, consultations and launches of new schemes and initiatives such as the ultra low emission zone. The return to TfL through our contract with Metro outweighs the cost of the advertising we take out.
