You asked

Can you please provide the following information under a Freedom of Information Request? This request does not breach the data of any individual person because this is a generic request for a specific number of people and doesn’t reveal any individual identities. I have also considered the cost of obtaining this data and calculated that it wouldn’t exceed 18 hours or £450. 1. Can you please tell me the number of employees who work within Transport for London’s Taxi and Private Hire Department? 2. Can you please tell me the number of employees who work within Transport for London’s Taxi and Private Hire Department who have made aware to TfL that they have a disability? 3. Can you please tell me the number of employees who work within Transport for London’s Taxi and Private Hire Department who have made aware to TfL that they have a disability and how many of those people with a disability TfL have made a reasonable adjustment for under the 2010 Equality Act?

We answered

Our ref: FOI-1029-2122/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 18 August 2021 asking for information about Transport for London’s Taxi and Private Hire Department.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

It should be noted, that it is an individual’s choice whether to advise our HR department of any disability. The answers to your questions below reflect the information recorded centrally by HR. There may be employees who consider themselves to have a disability, but have chosen not to record this with HR. Reasonable adjustments may therefore have been arranged locally with their line managers without being recorded.

  1. Can you please tell me the number of employees who work within Transport for London’s Taxi and Private Hire Department?
The current FTE headcount (Full Time Equivalent) as of 20 August 2021 in the Taxi & Private Hire Department is 268.5.

  1. Can you please tell me the number of employees who work within Transport for London’s Taxi and Private Hire Department who have made aware to TfL that they have a disability?
Eight employees within the Taxi and Private Hire directorate have declared a disability to the TfL Human Resources Department (HR).

  1. Can you please tell me the number of employees who work within Transport for London’s Taxi and Private Hire Department who have made aware to TfL that they have a disability and how many of those people with a disability TfL have made a reasonable adjustment for under the 2010 Equality Act?
Reasonable adjustments are not recorded in a reportable format. As advised above, reasonable adjustments where required can be informally managed locally by the employee’s manager and therefore would not be recorded and so, whilst we do not hold any recorded information on this, it may be the case that reasonable adjustments are being made if required.
