You asked
Can you send me a summary budget, broken down by key stages / deliverables, for the project to rebuild Cromwell Road Railway Bridge on the A4 in Chiswick. I refer to the project starting on 5th August and likely to last until the end of 2022 as detailed in local press: http://www.chiswickw4.com/default.asp?section=info&page=conroad357.htm I am looking for the total budgeted cost of all the works as well as any additional costs budgeted to provide diversions or related expenditure.

Thank you for your request received by us on 27 July 2022 asking about Cromwell Road.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

As this is a live scheme we are currently unable to provide detailed information on the requested budgets. This is because disclosure of the requester information would be likely to prejudice our commercial interests and is therefore exempt in accordance with section 43(2) of the FOI Act. However, please see the summarised budgets below which I hope will be of assistance to you:

Design = £15k - £30k
Construction; including licences, diversions and internal costs = £1.25m - £1.40m

The application of the exemption set out in section 43(2) of the FOI Act is subject to the public interest test. Whilst we appreciate the inherent public interest in transparency, particularly in financial matters, we consider that the balance of public interest supports the application of this exemption to ensure that we continue to achieve best value for money in this scheme whilst also meeting our transparency commitment through the provision of the information provided above.
