We answered
TfL Ref 1009-2021
Thank you for your further email below and your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 11 September 2020 asking for a summary of the main differences, legally, when the underground was run directly by LT until the LRT 1984 and when it became law in 1985 and LUL was sent up as a limited company to run the tube. You also asked for details of the current plan for the future of the 15H routemaster operation.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
Please be aware that, under the FOI Act, we do not have to answer a request if it would require the creation of new information or the provision of a judgement, explanation, advice or opinion that was not already recorded at the time of the request. On this basis, whilst we don’t hold a ‘summary’ document of the main differences legally, we have a number of published guides which are available at the following link on our website: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/about-tfl/culture-and-heritage/corporate-archives/the-collections?intcmp=2763
We do also have some documents that have been compiled by our Corporate Archives staff over the years to assist us with our cataloguing of the collections and are based on research online and using original records. Please find attached these attached.
With regard to the second part of your request, we suspended the 15H during the coronavirus pandemic, which is still ongoing, and do not currently have a confirmed date for when it will return to service.
If you are considering submitting a further FOI request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
