You asked

From 1st of May 2018 to current date, can you please tell us how many calls did centrecomm recieve from London Bus drivers reporting: 1. Feeling too hot in cab 2. Overheating bus 3. Drowsiness 4. Tiredness 5. No working AirCon 6. Passenger complaining a hot bus Bus Drivers usually call via code red/blue and we are aware that they can also call locally to bus their individual depots but we need information from centrecomm in this instance.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10 July 2018 asking for information about Code/Code red calls from Bus Drivers about hot buses.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

From 1st of May 2018 to current date, can you please tell us how many calls did Centrecomms receive from London Bus drivers reporting:

1. Feeling too hot in cab

2. Overheating bus

3. Drowsiness

4. Tiredness

5. No working AirCon

6. Passenger complaining a hot bus

TfL has required all news buses to have air conditioning in drivers’ cabs since 2006, with nearly all buses now fitted with air conditioning. 

Using a keyword search on the data held within the time period you have requested, we have identified 8 instances of calls that we consider would fit within the categories covered by your request, broken down as follows:

1. Feeling too hot in cab - 1

2. Overheating bus - 2

3. Drowsiness - 0

4. Tiredness - 0

5. No working AirCon - 1

6. Passenger complaining a hot bus - 4
