Alcohol arrests
Request ID: FOI-0990-1819
Date published: 10 July 2018
You asked
It has been ten years since it became a criminal offence to drink alcohol or be in possession of open containers of alcohol on the Transport for London network. How many people have been prosecuted for this? It would be great to have an annual breakdown of this figure, please.
We answered
Our ref: FOI-0990-1819/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9 July 2018 asking for information about arrests on the transport network.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
Unfortunately we do not hold the information you require. TfL staff would initially deal with such incidents by engaging with the person and asking them to dispose of the alcohol and/or leave the network.
Non-co-operation would likely lead to the British Transport Police / Metropolitan Police being called to deal with the person. We do not hold records of any arrests or action subsequently taken by the BTP / MPS in such an event.
You may wish to direct your request to the BTP and MPS who may be able to assist you further.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
