You asked
Hello
I would like to request data on the issuing of Penalty Charge Notices in London in the Congestion Zone.
I'm particularly interested in comparing the period since this change was only in force for five days and now its seven.
So to break things down one of your agents on the phone told me this new seven day enforcement is only since June.
1. Can you please provide me with the number of Penalty Charge notices issued for non payment of the Congestion Charge in June, July August 2020 compared to the same months in 2019.
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-0977-2021
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4th September 2020 asking for information about the extension of congestion charge zone times.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Can you please provide me with the number of Penalty Charge notices issued for non payment of the Congestion Charge in June, July August 2020 compared to the same months in 2019.”
I can confirm that we hold the information you require, which is provided in the table below. Note that the changes to the Congestion Charge were implemented on 22 June 2020, and for the first two weekends after the changes were implemented (27/28 June and 4/5 July), we did not issue Penalty Charge Notices, but issued warning letters instead. More information about the changes can be found in the Press Release published on the TfL website here:
