FOI request detail

Box Junction at Upper Woburn Place/Endsleigh Gardens

Request ID: FOI-0974-2122
Date published: 23 August 2021

You asked

The temporary traffic lights on Endsleigh Gardens are currently affecting traffic flow in this area. This box junction is has become a game of Russian Roulette, with drivers approaching the Euston Road traffic lights in the left and right lanes and then switching to the right lane after the box junction but before the lights. This means that even with a clear exit in the right hand lane, there is no way of predicting when a vehicle will move from the left and block the exit, thus stranding you in the box junction. This has happened to me twice. I have paid both fines but feel aggrieved as I am aware of the rules and have still struggled to negotiate this junction. I would like to know how many people have been caught in this box in the last 6 months, where this ranks in the list of most profitable box junctions in London and how many vehicles have been fined more than once in this same box junction. Please consider this a complaint and also a request under the Freedom of Information Act. Many thanks
