PCN Fines issued on the 2nd April 2019 at the yellow box junction of Masons Hill and Kentish Way Bromley
Request ID: FOI-0955-1920
Date published: 17 July 2019
You asked
Please supply me with the total number of PCN fines issued to bus operators for buses blocking the camera controlled junction of Masons Hill and Kentish Way, Bromley, on the 2nd of April 2019. Please include in this information sub-totals for individual bus operating companies, because some bus companies may have provided its staff with the additional guidance needed to traverse this junction. Mine did not.
Please also supply the total number of PCN fines issued to ALL vehicles on the same day (2nd April 2019) at the above same Junction. This is needed to show the proportion of buses to non-buses, because it is considerably easier to traverse this junction in a car, especially if you can beat the bus across, leaving it stranded on the box and subsequently fined.

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2 July 2019.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

TfL may issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) to any vehicle observed contravening a traffic restriction on the red route network. Buses are not exempt from yellow box junction restrictions.
When we record a contravention we do not record the type of vehicle committing the contravention so we do not hold information on the number of PCNs we have issued to buses for yellow box contraventions.
Bus services in London are run by private operators. While we cannot specifically say how many PCNs were issued to buses we do hold information on the number of PCNs issued to our bus operating companies. On 2 April 2019, we issued 105 PCNs to vehicles which were observed stopped in the yellow box on Masons Hill junction with Kentish Way, Bromley. 18 of these PCNs were issued to bus operating companies.
