I have been given to understand that TfL partially-funded the Wapping bus gate that was set up in 2019 through collaboration with Tower Hamlets Council. In relation to this, I would be grateful if you would provide details of the following information:
a) The specific percentage of overall funding provided by TfL for the Wapping bus gate (expressed as a numeric percentage out of 100).
b) The total overall cost of the bus gate.
c) Any reasons stated in TfL correspondence (written in hard-copy or email) that TfL felt a bus gate in Wapping High Street would be beneficial to its operations.

Our Ref: FOI-0945-2223
Thank you for your request received on 21 July 2022 asking for information about a bus gate in Wapping.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:
a) The specific percentage of overall funding provided by TfL for the Wapping bus gate (expressed as a numeric percentage out of 100) b) The total overall cost of the bus gate
The scheme was delivered by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and TfL provided a fixed £40k contribution under the Bus Priority programme in 2019/20. As this scheme was led by the Borough we do not hold information on the total overall cost of the bus gate and are unable to provide a percentage of the overall funding TfL provided.
c) Any reasons stated in TfL correspondence (written in hard-copy or email) that TfL felt a bus gate in Wapping High Street would be beneficial to its operations
Please see the below extract from correspondence with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. This was part of an End of Year Review Borough Audit in August 2020 that states the reasons the bus gate would be beneficial to bus passengers as well as local residents.
