Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27th June 2023 asking for information about the Central Line improvement programme.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“What is the current status of the central line improvement programme, and when can we expect to see a refurbished train in service?”
I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

Further to that response, I can provide a further update as follows:
Multiple system designs have been completed and approved
Installation has been completed for the first train to enter into service
Dynamic testing on the mainline and rectification works will commence during August 2023
The first refurbished train will enter into passenger service in the Autumn
