You asked

The BBC used an image of a London Underground CIB (information board) for a short segment of BBC sport coverage of the England ‘Lionesses’ match vs Cameroon on BBC1 on the 23rd June 2019. Did they have permission to do so? Did the make contact with TFL and if not were they meant to?

We answered

Our ref: FOI-0923-1920/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 June 2019 asking for information about filming on London Underground.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

We have no record of the BBC contacting us to seek permission to use the image of the London Underground information board that you refer to. Any filming on our network should only be carried out with the permission of the TfL Film Office (see https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/filming-and-photography ).  However, in this instance it is not clear where the image originated from as it was shared extensively on social media.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
