Thank you for your request received on 28 June 2019 asking for information about the District Line.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
Please find the requested information attached.
Due to the amount of work taking place on a live railway, this will affect reliability of the service. The attached data provides the actual versus scheduled trains as recorded in our database. The database captures the number of trains passing over a section of track and logs this data every time a train crosses the section. Please note that the source database can become unreliable, resulting in incorrect train descriptions being recorded. This is mainly evident in the section ‘Wimbledon – City’, where the percentage exceeds 100% due to the aged infrastructure and train diversion/ reformations. In instances where % of actual compared to scheduled services is over 100%, this is due to trains being diverted/reformed resulting in extra trains because of disruption incident on the line or accompanying line.
Weekends and Bank Holiday traffic days were excluded from the report due to unreliability of data, weekend planned engineering works etc.
We are expecting the data quality issues to be addressed by the Four Lines Modernisation (4LM) programme which is currently upgrading the signalling systems on the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. Once complete, the system will increase reliability, improve customer information and reduce journey times for our customers.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
