Thank you for your email received on 15 July 2017 asking for information on private hire drivers provided to Transport for London (TfL) by private hire operators.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm we do hold some of the information you require.

TfL is currently collating and verifying information from private hire operators for June 2017. The most recent  verified figures we have available are from 4 March – 31 March 2017. During that period, 70,365 private hire drivers were working or available to work for private hire operators. This number is based on data provided by private hire operators and is subject to change following further analysis and verification of the data we continue to receive. Support and guidance is given to operators to ensure that they comply with this requirement. Failing to provide this information may lead to licensing action being taken.
