We answered

TfL Ref: 0904-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 July 2021 asking for information about the Croydon & Sutton area bus service consultation.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked: I am making a FOI request regarding the Croydon & Sutton area bus service consultation. I wish to know the following:
-When are the results of the consultations expected to be published
-Following the publication of bus network development papers for Croydon and Sutton, what alternative options for reconfiguring the bus network in these areas were considered

The results of the Sutton-Croydon bus consultation will be published on our website at the following location when they are finalised and confirmed which is expected to be at the end of August / early September: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/sutton-croydon-bus-changes/

Please note that the published Croydon and Sutton network studies are only intended to be ideas, not proposals, and any schemes taken forward from those would require a business case to be produced and full consultation undertaken; funding would also need to be secured before they could progress.

The Croydon study you refer to is a self contained piece of work and the details of the alternatives considered that we hold are contained in the following document which is published on our website:
https://content.tfl.gov.uk/croydon-bus-study.pdf

In respect of the Sutton study we are still considering our response to the issue raised in the Sutton consultation; this includes considering a number of alternatives put to us by consultees. Details of these will be available on our website when we publish our response. The link to the published study is as follows: https://content.tfl.gov.uk/sutton-network-study.pdf

Therefore in accordance with the FOI Act, TfL is not obliged to supply you with the information you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. In this instance the exemption has been applied as the information you have requested is intended for future publication.

This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule when the alternatives have been fully considered and the decisions taken, rather than in response to requests for information, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
