Request ID: FOI-0902-1718
Date published: 08 August 2017

You asked

I refer to the above virtual LED barrier which is enforced by TfL. 1. How many fixed penalty notices were issued over the 6 week period of Monday 5 June and Friday 14 July 7 September, (please supply the number per day) 2. What was the total of the fines for the above dates The enforcement by TFL appears to have little impact, a resident has reported seeing 7 vehicles transgressing the virtual barrier in a few minutes this morning. TFL issue about 7 tickets per day. Can you please also confirm what steps TFL intend to take given that TFL’s current enforcement of the barrier is somewhat casual.

The camera teams at TfL monitor a vast range of cameras and potential offences across the network and therefore are unable to capture every single offence that occurs. Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) are being issued at this location for the part-time banned movements into Dryburgh Road from Monday – Friday between the hours of 7am and 10am and not all day.

It is important to note that, in recognition of the strategic importance of the red route network, all PCNs issued by TfL are issued at the higher Band A rate of £130.

Our overriding focus is to keep London moving, and by improving compliance we help keep junctions and narrowed roads clear which can have a significant impact on all road users. Our enforcement activity is focussed at key locations at peak hours when traffic contraventions cause more congestion, longer delays and further inconvenience other road users.
