Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 July 2021 asking for information about the Future Bus project.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

The project referred to in the agenda papers for the Programmes and Investment Committee meeting on 21 July 2021 forms part of our work to increase bus usage by making our service more attractive to a wider range of people.

We will be publishing the information you have requested on our website in the Autumn of 2021 when we have finalised all the necessary plans for the project and when the project is about to be launched. Therefore in accordance with the FOI Act, TfL is not obliged to supply you with the information you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. In this instance the exemption has been applied as the information you have requested is intended for future publication.

This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information in as much detail and as accurately as possible when it is at the completion stage, in accordance with the pre-existing publication plan rather than in a fragmented way in response to requests for information, to ensure the information is provided accurately, in full and in an accessible manner to the widest number of interested parties.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
