Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 July 2017 asking for information about Santander Cycles.

 

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

 

  1. At the start of 2017, how many Santander Cycles were in operation.

     



    Approximately 11,500.



     



  2. As of the present day, how many have been flagged as missing/stolen?

 

Since the launch of the scheme in 2010, 1,503 bikes have been lost and 31 reported stolen.

 

3. How does TFL define a cycle as being stolen?

 

Stolen bikes are those which have been reported to the police as stolen and remain missing.
