The online guidance http://intranet.tfl/our-organisation/information-governance/managing-personal-information/accessing-data-for-employee-investigations.aspx covers this and gives examples, such as if there have been complaints about them surfing the internet for non-work purposes for a disproportionate amount of time; or downloading inappropriate material (for example, pornography).
The guidance states each request must be assessed by a PMA to ensure that:
• the data being requested is proportionate to the investigation
•there is a legitimate business need to access the data
•the potential adverse impact on the employee in obtaining the data is justified by the potential benefit to the employer (TfL/LU).
This comes from our internally published guidance.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
