Request ID: FOI-0891-2223 Date published: 19 July 2022
You asked
Dear FOIA people Please would you furnish me with the following information: 1) How many fixed penalty tickets have been issued for contravention of the solid white line offenses inside both tunnels since 1st January 2017 to now by year and by tunnel (so split between northbound and southbound tunnels separately if possible)
If TFL doesn’t have information on those FPNs issues by police directly then please limit to those that TFL has information on or were issued by TFl

TfL Ref: 0891-2223
Thank you for your email received by us on 14 July 2022 asking for information about fixed penalty notices issued for contraventions inside the Blackwall Tunnel.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. You asked:

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as this type of contravention is not enforced by Transport for London and therefore such Penalty Charge Notices are not issued by TfL. Contraventions on white lines in this vicinity tend to be enforced when a Police unit is on site attending an incident, or when witnessing driver behaviour of concern.
However, if our Network Management Control Centre observe such offenses occurring due to an incident, we would contact the Metropolitan Police and request for their enforcement, resources permitting.
In these circumstances, we advise contacting the Metropolitan Police directly for PCNS issued inside the Blackwall Tunnel.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
