We answered

Thank you for your email received on 13 July 2017 asking for information about card payments in taxis.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

“Since the enforcement of credit cards in all taxis has their ever been any sort of payment to tfl from providers for the advertisement on taxis or any other payment due to the credit cards being accepted.”

I can advise that Transport for London has not received any payment from card providers for advertisements. It is a requirement for all taxis to display payment card acceptance signs so that passengers are aware that they can pay using any of the universally accepted payment methods displayed.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
